WHY IS A REFERENDUM NEEDED NOW?
The Financial Picture Has Changed
Recent changes to Indiana property-tax law provide new deductions and credits for taxpayers. Those same changes also reduce the local property-tax revenue available to Tipton Community School Corporation.
At the same time, the costs of teachers, transportation, utilities, student services, and operating three schools continue.
The district’s financial analysis found that maintaining long-term financial stability will require both continued cost reductions and additional referendum revenue.

WHAT DOES THAT MEAN?
A school corporation cannot continue operating with expenses exceeding available revenue year after year.

The Policy Analytics projection shows Tipton Community School Corporation moving from a positive ending cash balance in 2025 to a negative cash position beginning in 2028, with the annual funding gap continuing to grow.

The district's financial analysis indicates that long-term stability will require a combination of continued cost reductions and additional referendum revenue.
